Lottery Grids
My former landlord (Joseph Sikiric) gave me about 100 pieces of graph paper which were filled with hand-scrawled numbers. He told me that they were his attempts to predict winning lottery numbers. He said he actually got them right once, but didn’t play so never won anything. I couldn't understand the patterns but was fascinated by what they were - evidence of a person's attempts to predict randomness (or to tease out a hidden order in the universe), in an effort to achieve wealth. In order to make the patterns visual, I color-coded them, which then gave visual form to his elaborate systems.
